Help with this sentence from the website please, Common traditions include attending parties, eating special New Year’s foods, making resolutions for the new year and watching fireworks displays. Why eating, making, watching? Thanks

Parallel structure: The subject is traditions, the verb is include and four objects = all gerunds = the objects have to be in the same grammatical form.
